From the ashes of despair, one man lit a flame of hope.
In 1945, Japan was in ruins. When Naohira Yamamoto returned from the war,
he saw a city reduced to ashes and people who had lost their hope.
Yet amid the devastation, he saw a single ray of light—children chasing a ball barefoot, smiling as they played.
In that moment, Naohira was convinced:
“Sports have the power to transform despair into hope.”
The following year, he founded Shimizuya Clothing—not merely a store,
but a place that delivered hope and joy through sports.
The children’s smiles that brightened the darkness of postwar Japan
became the spark that began the story of Shimizuya Sports—and the path that would one day lead to “SSS.”
Turning children’s “pain” into “smiles” — The story behind the birth of the SSS Pants.
While teaching soccer to local children, Naohira Yamamoto noticed a problem:
many suffered from chafing and couldn’t move freely.
“I want to take away that pain. I want them to run freely.”
He measured the body types of more than 100 children, studied fabrics and stitching,
and after countless trials, finally completed the remarkably comfortable and functional “SSS Pants.”
“They’re so easy to move in!” “It doesn’t hurt anymore!”
The children’s smiles became the driving force of the brand.
The SSS Pants were not just clothing — they embodied the very spirit of Shimizuya Sports:
the pursuit of the best for children.
A legendary encounter that changed everything — The shock of “SSS” conquering Japan.
In 1963, the Fujieda Higashi High School soccer team, wearing SSS Pants,
won their first national championship.
“If you wear SSS, you can be as strong as Fujieda Higashi.”
That admiration spread across the nation, and SSS became a symbol of every young player’s dream.
Over the following 14 years, Fujieda Higashi claimed eight national titles,
and the name “SSS” was forever engraved in Japan as a symbol of victory.
The SSS Pants were more than just sportswear — they were the wings of every youth
chasing their dreams, and proof of their passion.
